Krista Kalthoff of Richmond Participates in Professional Internship at St. Scholastica

Krista Kalthoff is participating in three professional internships as part of her Health Informatics Management major at The College of St. Scholastica.

she is a senior, and is the daughter of Kevin and Shirley Kalthoff of Richmond.

The internships occur between Feb. 20 through April 6 and are for credit. Kalthoff's internships include:

• A Directed Practice Experience at Mercy Hospital and Care Center in Moose Lake, MN, focusing on departmental operations, functions and roles, Feb. 20 through March 9.
• An Explorations internship at Impact Advisors in Oak Brooke, IL, offering experience in a non-traditional setting for a HIM professional, March 19 through 23.
• A Management Affiliation at Trinity health System in Minot, ND, in which the concentration is on management of health information in an organization as well as the relationships HIM has with other departments in organizations, March 26 through April 6.

St. Scholastica's major in Health Information Management is housed in the Department of Healthcare Informatics and Information Management at St. Scholastica. The bachelor of science degree provides students with professional knowledge necessary to assume management responsibility for health records and health information systems in a variety of health related settings, including hospitals, clinics, long-term care settings, consulting firms, government agencies, insurance companies and software vendors.

The College of St. Scholastica was the first college in the nation to grant a bachelor's degree in this professional field. Its program has been accredited for over 50 years and is considered one of the premier programs in the nation.
